Making big cushions.

Letter from Graham to Simon & Pat 12 May 1975.

Last week we made some big cushions for our living room because the chairs provided for us are not really comfortable. The cushions are filled with scrap foam which we laboriously cut into small pieces. The children and their friends all like flopping about on them just as much as we do so I would not be surprised if other people make some for themselves.

Letter from Graham to Grandma & Grandad 1 June 1975 –

The two enormous floor cushions are used in various ways; for sitting and lying on, falling on and playing on. I have a game I play with the little ones and their friends in which I pick them up and look for somewhere to throw the ‘rubbish’. Then I drop the ‘rubbish’ onto the cushions which serve as a temporary rubbish pit.

Diary entry by Helen 16 May 1977 –

This evening Mum covered the big cushions with kitenge material and I thought they looked really nice.

We brought the cushion covers back to the UK – this photo of Helen & Fiona is taken in the garden in Bristol.
