Letter from Judy to Jo 28 Mar 1975 –
It’s nearly the end of term here so everyone’s spirits are rising – we get 5 weeks holiday which makes a good break. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that the rains hold off a bit longer so the roads don’t become impassable before the holiday starts.

The school holidays have now started. Yesterday evening Mummy, Helen and I went to see a ballet called ‘The Fairy Doll’ done by a class of boys and girls. We were taken by Mrs Elson with her daughter Lynne. Lynne has just come home from boarding school. The ballet was very good.

The Elsons came to play and we played outside in the wooden house. First we played ‘Cops and Robbers’ and then we played ‘Nothings’. We invented ‘Nothings’ ourselves. The ‘Nothings’ had to be shut in the wooden house and had to try to get out while the others had to block up all the holes to stop them getting out.

Helen and I went down to the Alliance School library. Helen got two Enid Blyton books and I got The Colditz Story and we got a book about Nature’s Nursery for Fiona. In the afternoon we went swimming with the Elsons. In the evening Mummy, Daddy and I went down to the theatre hall and played badminton.

Letter from Helen to Robert, Nicky and Kerry April 1976 –
This week we have been going to a place called St Francis holiday club. Usually we play some games and do handicrafts and sometimes we sing. The holiday club is for people from 3 to 12 and we are divided into groups. The 3 to 5’s are called “the minis”, the 6 to 8 are called “the maxis” and the 9 to 12 are “murks”. So I am a “murk” and Fiona is a “maxi”.
