Diary entry by Juliet 24 January 1975 –
Nairobi airport was not quite as hot as Entebbe but it still seemed very hot. The buildings seemed much the same as Entebbe Airport’s buidings. We waited for about 4 hours with our luggage because of something. We sat on a verandah sweating and ate stale sandwiches spread thinly with marg and with fatty ham in. I threw most of mine in a bin because I was too hot and uncomfortable and tired to eat them. We made friends with a family who had come from Greece and who are going to live at a school near Mombasa. Then we were taken to Alliance Boys High School in a black car which was very fast.
